Chips are a custom GEL component.

Chips

Chips typically function to display contact information and may contain entities such as a photo, avatar, text, rules, and icon, or contact information.

Upon click/press, an email addressed to the person is often generated. A chip can also be used to contain a logout/logoff function for an app.
