BNSF Automotive: 2024 Christmas and New Year's Operating Plan

This year, BNSF will observe the Christmas holiday on Tuesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 25, and the New Year's holiday on Tuesday, December 31, and Wednesday January 1, 2025. 

The number of trains operating on BNSF track is typically lower over the Christmas and New Year's holidays due to reduced freight volume. Connecting carriers who have reduced operations for the holiday may cause delays on interline traffic. As a result, we anticipate some extending of our service schedules as we consolidate volumes to fill trains. We expect shipments from Tuesday, December 24, through Friday, January 3, 2025, may experience delays of 24 hours.

For interactive tracing 365 days a year, please use BNSF’s Tracing web tool by logging in to the BNSF Customer Portal with your username and password and selecting the Trace tab on the Home page. If you have questions regarding a shipment(s), please utilize the Message Us feature on the BNSF Customer Portal (must be registered/logged in to access) or contact BNSF Customer Support at 1-888-428-2673. 
 
Customer Support will maintain a limited staff on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve until 6 p.m. Normal coverage will resume on the Thursday following each holiday.
