05/01/20 Update - BNSF COVID-19 Response

Date
May 1, 2020

BNSF operating teams continue to generate strong service performance and greater network efficiencies during this COVID-19 pandemic. With hard work and dedication, train operations have remained normal, and freight shipments, particularly the critical goods that our nation needs during this challenging time, are reaching their destinations as quickly as possible.

Throughout this pandemic, the safety of our employees and contractors, customers and the communities we serve remains the most important thing we do. BNSF continues to take the necessary precautions to protect the health of our workforce and reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19. In accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance, we have already shipped more than 250,000 face masks out to operations personnel for use in situations where social distancing is not feasible.

Several states, including Texas, have recently eased stay-at-home orders and mandated business closures. BNSF continues to encourage employees who are able to work off-site to do so. This reduces the risk of exposure not only to those working remotely, but also limits exposure to those who cannot perform their role remotely.

As the shipping environment continues to evolve, we encourage customers to stay in contact with us regarding any changes to shipping needs or adjustments to supply chains. If you have a facility whose operations have been affected due to COVID-19, please notify us as soon as possible through the online Facility Disruption Form. As always, we want to collaborate with you on the most reliable and efficient freight transportation solutions.

Thank you for your business. We will continue to provide additional updates.
