Coal Network Update for Friday, November 6, 2026

Operational Performance
Service across the Southwest continues to improve following the recent widespread flooding in New Mexico and Arizona. Our teams are making steady progress, and the weather outlook for the region is mostly favorable for the coming week.

On the Southern Transcon, both main tracks on the Gallup Subdivision in New Mexico were back in service early last week. To help clear the backlog, we have added additional resources. Customers moving freight across the Southern Transcon may see longer transit times in some lanes into next week as BNSF works to restore normal traffic flows.

As previously communicated, service has also been restored on the El Paso Subdivision, south of Albuquerque, and the embargo has since been lifted. Water levels continue to recede, and crews are reinforcing flood-affected areas.

Looking at overall network performance, car velocity improved more than 6% from the prior week, while local service is trending around 92%. Terminal dwell was slightly higher than the prior week and above the prior month.

Service Expectations for the Week Ahead
A strong Pacific storm is expected to bring increasing winds and rain to the Pacific Northwest beginning early Sunday, while heavy rainfall is possible across South Texas through the weekend and into early next week. BNSF teams are monitoring conditions and will adjust operations as needed to support safe, reliable service. Favorable operating conditions are expected across the rest of the network.

As always, we thank you for your business and appreciate the opportunity to serve as your transportation service provider. We welcome your feedback and questions.
