Management Trainee - Transportation/Operations

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
|
This challenging program offers different rotations during a 1-year
training period. The program begins with a 1-month extensive corporate
orientation at our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, TX. The
trainees then receive 6 weeks of training at our state-of-the-art
technical training center in Overland Park, KS, which includes a
cross-country train ride to the West coast. This is followed by
in-depth dispatcher training at our Network Operations Center in
Fort Worth. The remaining months are spent in an assigned Division,
which could be anywhere on BNSF's 35,000-mile system. During this
assignment, the trainee will learn to manage railroad terminal operations,
moving traffic to and from interchange points; supervise track maintenance
crews; and supervise, monitor and inspect the maintenance of locomotives
and freight cars. This program is designed to prepare the trainee
for a field operations management position.

Qualifications
|
Applicants must have a Bachelors or Masters degree. Degree emphasis
in transportation, logistics or business management preferred (all
majors considered). GPA of 3.0 or above. A current grade transcript
must be produced for consideration. Applicants must be extremely
flexible about work location. Candidates must be willing to
relocate throughout their training period. Final work locations
determined during the course of the training program.

Working Conditions
|
Office and field environment. Hours are irregular with a minimum
of 40 hours per week. 24/7 Operation. Night, weekend and holiday
work required.
