2025 - 2021

Driven by increasing customer demand, this period centered on expanding capacity, strengthening network resilience and advancing sustainability. Major infrastructure upgrades, digital tools and modernized equipment improved reliability and efficiency across key routes, supporting long term growth for our customers.

2020 - 2016

This phase focused on operational excellence and optimizing how shipments move across our network. Upgrades to terminals, intermodal facilities and track infrastructure improved performance and capacity. Continued investments in safety, technology and customer focused solutions positioned BNSF for sustained expansion.

2015 - 2011

We broadened our service offerings with new facilities designed to bring customers closer to major transportation hubs. This included the launch of the Memphis Intermodal Facility, Logistics Park Kansas City and Logistics Center Sweetwater—each helping customers streamline supply chains and reach new markets.

2010 - 2006

BNSF strengthened its leadership in intermodal transportation, surpassing one million containers moved and achieving a record of more than 10 million total units shipped. These milestones reflected growing customer confidence and the expanding role of rail in modern supply chains.

2005 - 2001

We opened Logistics Park Chicago, giving intermodal customers strategic access to major distribution centers and helping reduce shipment costs. This development became a cornerstone for efficient, scalable shipping in the Midwest.
