Keating Named President of BNSF Foundation

FORT WORTH, Texas, January 3, 2008:

Mary Jo Keating has been named president of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Foundation effective Jan. 1, 2008, it was announced today. She succeeds Richard Russack, who retired as president of the BNSF Foundation Dec. 31, 2007. Keating also serves as vice president, Corporate Relations, of BNSF Railway Company.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Foundation, created in 1996, is the major channel of philanthropy for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (NYSE:BNI) and its subsidiaries. The philosophy of the Foundation's contribution program is to support and improve the general welfare and quality of life in the communities served by BNSF for the benefit of its employees and their families and, when appropriate, initiate support for specific community projects.
