BNSF to Report Third-Quarter Earnings October 23; Analysts Meeting to Be Accessible via Internet

FORT WORTH, Texas, October 16, 2001:

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNSF) (NYSE: BNI) will report third-quarter earnings and other performance results during a live Webcast for financial analysts and others at 8:45 a.m. Eastern Time October 23, 2001.

Presentation material and the Webcast will be available on BNSF’s Web site at www.bnsf.com. BNSF suggests that those who plan to access the meeting through the Web go to the BNSF site by 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time to download the presentation and install any software required to run the presentation.

For those who cannot listen to the live Webcast, a replay will be available on BNSF’s Web site at approximately noon Eastern Time.
