ON GUARD: Reporting to Resource Protection by Radio
2007-11-29
Many BNSF employees now have a quicker, easier way to report trespassers or other suspicious circumstances to the Resource Operations Call Center (ROCC). Employees can reach the ROCC on their radios by adding the code number four (4) in the third position of the three-digit call-in code for the area in which they’re operating. Radio frequencies and call-in codes are identified by subdivision in each Division Timetable. This improved access will only be available on subdivisions that currently use three-digit call-ins.
The ROCC is BNSF’s internal emergency call center and is staffed 24 hours a day by BNSF special agents. As part of the ON GUARD program, BNSF employees are encouraged to report trespassers, crimes that are being committed, and other suspicious circumstances directly to the ROCC.
This direct call-in capability will be implemented in a phased approach. As of Oct. 1, the direct call-in capability was implemented with the following divisions: Chicago, Colorado, Gulf, Montana, Nebraska, Northwest, Powder River, Texas, and Twin Cities.
Additional divisions will be added and notified by General Order later this year.
When a call is received, ROCC officers will access the appropriate radio tower and announce they are answering the radio. The ROCC officers will gather as much information as possible to provide to the responding law enforcement officers. The ROCC officer will immediately contact local law enforcement or BNSF police to investigate.
