BNSF Group Remembers the Troops with Care Packages
2007-10-25
For the fourth year, BNSF’s Engineering Support Group, Fort Worth, will send holiday care packages to the BNSF Maintenance of Way (MOW) and Signal employees who are serving in Iraq or elsewhere. Since 2004, packages have been mailed twice a year.
Organized by Engineering Support Clerk Louise Eckroat, she and her colleagues have stayed in touch with BNSF family members serving overseas. Through fundraisers and donations, the care packages are filled with an assortment of "needs and wants." The recipients have shown their thanks via e-mail, letters, pictures and even DVDs.
"The troops are making such incredible sacrifices every day; we hope this helps to show our appreciation," says Eckroat.
"Louise, thank you very much for the care package I received in the mail today. I especially liked the stainless steel thermos and cup. I thought the BNSF ball cap and socks and deluxe poker set will also come in quite handy. I have been stationed at TAQ A DDUM (F.O.B. TQ) since Oct. 18. FOB TQ lies approximately 40 miles west of Baghdad… It is quite comforting to know that BNSF is committed to their employees…. I am looking forward to my return home and to be able to return to BNSF."
Sgt. Monty R. Worster, maintenance section foreman.
